After last week's stampede on Capitol Hill, considerably fewer associations are holding fly-ins this week. Congressional offices will still be packed with hundreds of association advocates.
About 1,400 engineers are expected to at the American Council of Engineering Companies' annual convention, which began Sunday. Four hundred conference attendees will head to the Hill Tuesday or Wednesday. The legislative asks include reauthorizing highway and transit programs and improving the federal design-build process.
The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America will hold its annual Big "I" Legislative Conference, beginning Wednesday. Several members of Congress will address the group, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.)
Other groups holding lobby days or legislative conferences this week include NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association, Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates, Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association, and American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
